4 out of 5 stars Not Bad, but it's no Britax   January 6, 2009
I bought this car seat since the Britax Frontier received poor reviews for installation. This Graco Nautilus car seat gets the job done and the price is right. My biggest problem is that the head portion does not recline at all and it is not a chair for a child to sleep in. If you have a Britax Roundabout or Britax Marathon you know how easy it is for a child to sleep in it. My child's head flops forward if she happens to fall asleep in the Graco Nautilus.

5 out of 5 stars Fits My 24 and 45-Month-Olds Very Well   January 6, 2009
This is the best non-infant car seat I've used. Both my 45 month old daughter (who is tall for her age) and my 24 month old daughter (who is a little small for her age) fit comfortably in it. They also both have comfortably fallen asleep in them. They actually use the cupholders - something they never bothered with on the 2 previous models they collectively used. With all the available customizable padding and strap options, these seats should last me well into the future.

Also, I disagree with other reviewers on the following: I do not find the fabric cheap looking, and it seems plenty soft to the touch. The crotch clasp has a protective pad around it to keep you from pinching your little ones legs, but if you adjust the straps right, that -shouldn't- be an issue anyway. Also, the crotch strap doesn't seem as short as other models I've used, such as the Cosco Scenera and the Alpha-Omega Elite. My oldest is able to undo the chest clasp, however that is a behavioral issue with my daughter (again, almost 4 years old), not with the security of clasp.

5 out of 5 stars I would recommend this car seat to others   January 5, 2009
We really like this car seat. It was easy to put together and install. The thing I like best about it is that our daughter's head does not seem to flop forward when she is sleeping as much as in other car seats. It seems to be well constructed and attractive. I would recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Safety and convenience in one!   January 5, 2009
I LOVE this booster seat! It is extremely well built and safe. My child looks very comfortable in it. She can sleep easily in it as well. The built in cup holder is definitely a plus...we had another seat with a detachable one and it collapsed every time my daughter tried to put her sippy into it. I love how the seat adjusts to fit your child for years to come. The five point harness can be used up to 65lbs for added safety as well. The straps are very easy to buckle and adjust, and are also easy to loosen and unbuckle. Great seat!!

3 out of 5 stars Comfortable for kid, but very difficult to assemble   January 4, 2009
I bought this at a local store because it looked sturdy and well-built. When I took it home, alas, it was a royal pain in the neck to put together! I'm using the with-harness option, and adjusting the harness height and the crotch position was a true exercise in total frustration. The manual is poorly written and the drawings not helpful.

My toddler seems comfortable in the seat, and it has a cupholder and two small storage compartments. Problems with this made-in-China product have come to surface: one of the arm rests shakes, and the tether strap (for LATCH) is never totally tight. (But the main LATCH straps are doing a good job.)

This car seat was not tested by Consumer Reports so we will not know whether it's a truly safe restraint for our children. We just have to put our trust in the manufacturer.

Anyway, I really hate the assembly required to get this car seat to install properly, and I'm not looking forward to the future day when I need to remove the built-in harness or the entire seatback. Maybe some kind soul could post a video how-to?
